More people are turning to steroid and epidural injections, surgery and pain medications for treatment. However, these treatments do not get to the CAUSE of the problem, and they can be associated with significant health risks.
LOW BACK PAIN:
Low back pain (LBP) is the single leading cause of disability worldwide according to the Global Burden of Disease. It is the 2nd most common reason for people to visit the doctor. More than one-third of adults say low back pain has affected their ability to engage in tasks of daily living (30%), exercise (38%) and sleep (37%). Over 80% of the population with experience an episode of LBP at some point in their life. Most people with recover within a few months of onset. However, some will not recover and will develop chronic LBP.
In contrast to popular belief, low back pain is caused most often by the strain of ligaments in the lumbar & sacral regions. Ligaments are bands of tough connective tissue that connect bones together. They are pliant and flexible to allow movement, but strong and tough to provide stability. However, the ligaments are frequently placed under acute, continuous, or intermittent strain which they are unable to withstand, and their function is impaired by relaxation of the fibrous bands. The pain that is elicited on strain/tearing of ligaments, is the nerve supply of the ligaments. This can lead to muscle spasms and referred pain, especially if the relaxation is severe. When the ligaments are relaxed, there is increased pressure on the intervertebral discs and vertebral bodies which lead to herniated or “ruptured discs”.
When the ligaments regain their strength, the muscles relax, discs improve, and the pain improves. At PBPM, we look at the whole person and provide the body back what it needs to repair itself: nutrition, improved detoxification, oxygenation, growth factors, stem cells, and proper balance/alignment of the musculoskeletal system.
Osteoarthritis is the most common cause of disability in the U.S. Over 30 million people Americans are affected by it according to the CDC.
Osteoarthritis is an inflammatory condition that occurs when the cartilage that cushions the joints wear away. It can affect any joint, but the most commonly affected joints are knees, hips, low back, neck, small joints of the fingers, and bases of thumbs and big toe. It is the most common reason for total knee and total hip replacement.
There are multiple causes; aging, being overweight, knee injury, repetitive use of the joint, muscle weakness and joint laxity. Traditional methods of managing Osteoarthritis include anti-inflammatories, pain medication, physical therapy and cortisone injections.
At Palm Beach Preventive Medicine, we assist you in weight loss if necessary; provide key nutrients and oxygen for bone/joint health; PRP/stem cells to reduce inflammation in the tissue, reduce pain, and promote new tissue formation.
FOR WOMEN ONLY!
Bioidentical hormone therapy is widely accepted as a viable and effective treatment for a variety of the symptoms associated with hormone deficiencies that result from menopause. Bioidentical hormones are molecule-by-molecule, exactly the same as the hormones produced by your body.
The most common treatment for Testosterone Deficiency is Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT). Restoring healthy testosterone levels helps ease many of the undesirable effects of aging. We offer a variety of therapy programs customized to address your specific needs and goals.
Sermorelin is an effective, more natural choice for treating Growth Hormone Deficiency. Unlike injected HGH, Sermorelin is a releasing agent that triggers the pituitary gland to produce your own natural growth hormone. Your body regulates the level of HGH that's released.
